Mexico City Free Walking Tour
Description
Explore Mexico City and its vibrant concoction of Hispanic and indigenous traditions through an immersive and complimentary walking tour of this dynamic capital!
Tour Overview
At the designated time, we will gather in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral, recognized as the most striking in Latin America, to commence this complimentary exploration of Mexico City.
In close proximity to our starting point, you will find the National Palace, a site rich in political significance and artistic heritage, home to Diego Rivera's remarkable murals. Just a short stroll away, the remains of the Templo Mayor await, illustrating the grandeur of ancient Tenochtitlán.
Our journey will then lead us to the Plaza de Santo Domingo, renowned for its colonial architecture and the longstanding tradition of public scribes and printers. We will take a moment to explore the Temple of Santo Domingo, a baroque masterpiece of New Spain, and the House of the Inquisition, which currently serves as the site of the Secretariat of Public Education.
Next, we will make our way to the National Art Museum (MUNAL), a splendid example of Porfirian architecture featuring an acclaimed collection of 19th and 20th-century Mexican artworks. Following this, we will visit the Postal Palace, noted for its ornate decor and grand marble stairways, along with the Casa de los Azulejos, a colonial landmark adorned with beautiful Talavera tiles sourced from Puebla.
Our final destination will be the Palace of Fine Arts, an emblematic structure of the city and a venue that showcases the pinnacle of national cultural expression. Here, we will conclude our 2.5-hour journey.
