Paso de Cortés Hiking Excursion
Description
Experience the breathtaking natural beauty of Mexico on this hiking trip through the Paso de Cortés. A must-do adventure starting from Mexico City!
Paso de Cortés Hiking Adventure
We will gather at 7 am at Michoacán Market in Mexico City. Subsequently, we will board a minibus that will transport us to the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park.
Upon arrival, we will embark on the Paso de Cortés trail, a mountain pathway nestled between the Popocatépetl and Ixtaccíhuatl volcanoes. Together, we will trek a distance of 11 kilometers through the stunning wilderness, taking in the stunning landscapes filled with volcanic rocks, rivers, and waterfalls.
During our journey, spotting local wildlife will be a delightful experience. As we admire the scenery dominated by lush conifer forests, we may encounter species such as coatis and volcano rabbits (also known as teporingo or zacatuche). Interestingly, volcano rabbits hold the title of the second-smallest rabbit species in the world!
Before we conclude our hike and return to Mexico City, the group will enjoy a light lunch, featuring a sandwich, fruit, an energy bar, and water.
Lastly, we will board the minibus again and head back to our starting point, aiming to arrive around 6 pm.
