Teotihuacán, Guadalupe Basilica & Tlatelolco Day Trip
Description
Discover the rich history and spiritual essence of the Mexican capital through a journey that includes three significant cultural landmarks: the archaeological zones of Teotihuacán, the Basilica of Guadalupe, and Tlatelolco.
Overview of the Day Trip
Our adventure begins at a designated meeting point in Mexico City for this 8.5-hour exploration, showcasing three essential highlights for anyone visiting this vibrant city.
The first destination on our itinerary is Tlatelolco, famed as a crucial part of the Aztec empire's capital.
Here, we will explore the Plaza de Tres Culturas, a harmonious blend of pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern architecture specific to the city. You will witness the ruins of Aztec pyramids, the convent of the viceroys, and contemporary structures.
Next, we will make our way northward to the Tepeyac Hill, home to the Villa Guadalupe, noted as one of the most frequented pilgrimage sites globally.
At this site, we will tour the interior of the existing Basilica of Santa María de Guadalupe, dedicated to the patron saint of Latin America, along with the original basilica serving as a temple for Cristo Rey. Approximately 1.5 hours will be allotted for our visit to these sacred spaces.
Our journey continues as we head towards Teotihuacán, recognized as the most popular archaeological site in Mexico.
During our journey, we will enjoy a stop for lunch at a local dining establishment. Post-lunch, we will traverse the Avenue of the Dead, uncovering the mysteries of the City of the Gods.
We will also explore the Quetzalpápalotl Palace and Temple of Quetzalcóatl, providing you with some leisure time to independently explore this revered location.
The tour concludes as we return to the initial meeting point in Mexico City.
