Description

Should you find yourself in Mexico City and wish to explore two quaint towns renowned for their culinary delights, this excursion to Toluca and Metepec is an unmissable opportunity.

Description

We'll convene at the designated time in front of the Barceló Reforma Hotel, embarking on our journey away from Mexico City towards our first stop, Toluca.

Upon arrival, our first visit will be to the Cosmovitral Botanical Garden, sprawling over more than 3000 square metres (32,290 square feet). Inside, you'll marvel at a stained glass window, recognized as the largest non-religious mosaic of its kind worldwide, illustrating the connection between humanity and the cosmos. Additionally, you'll encounter over 400 plant species from various regions.

This charming town located near the capital is celebrated for its diverse cuisine. Among its culinary treasures is the local green and red chorizo, crafted with pork, ginger, cloves, pepper, chillies, and vinegar. Before leaving Toluca, a taste of the delightful cakes offered at Vaquita Negra is highly recommended.

Our adventure continues as we head to one of Mexico's most enchanting towns, Metepec. This area is widely recognized for its artisan clay crafts, creating exquisite jars, pots, and plates.

Upon reaching Metepec, we will visit a family workshop that specializes in crafting the traditional tree of life. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the surroundings. While in town, we suggest sampling a regional drink, the garañona, and capturing a memorable photo alongside the Tlanchana, the charming Metepec siren. The local history adds to the allure!

We will then proceed to San Mateo Atenco, a small municipality transformed into a noteworthy shopping hub due to its footwear production. Each weekend, numerous visitors flock to purchase shoes, belts, bags, and leather garments at attractive prices. You'll have some leisure time to explore and shop here as well.

After a delightful 12-hour journey, we will return to our original meeting point, concluding an enriching day.
