4-Day Tour of Huasteca Potosina

Huasteca Tour Overview

Day 1: Departure from Mexico City - Arrival at Salto del Meco

At your chosen pickup location in Mexico City, we will set off on our exciting expedition toward the captivating Huasteca Potosina, recognized for its striking scenery and crystal-clear lagoons. Let’s begin this adventure!

Our first stop will be at a Querétaro eatery for dinner. Following this, you will enjoy a restful night on the bus as we continue our drive to our destination.

Day 2: Salto del Meco - Minas Viejas - Ciudad Valles

By morning, after around 13 hours of travel, we will arrive at Salto del Meco. Here, you'll have ample time to have breakfast and get ready before taking in the awe-inspiring views of the 35-meter (114 feet) waterfall surrounded by stunning landscapes.

Next, we will gather back at the vehicle and journey for 40 minutes to reach Minas Viejas. You will enjoy approximately 2 hours of exploration where you can marvel at its 50-meter (164 feet) waterfall, take a swim in the tranquil pools, and taste the local delicacies.

Afterward, we’ll continue for 1.5 hours until we arrive in Ciudad Valles, where you will check in to your hotel. The rest of your afternoon is yours to relax or explore the city at your leisure, which is bound to leave a lasting impression!

Day 3: Ciudad Valles - Tamul Waterfall - Puente de Dios - Ciudad Valles

Your day begins with a short 1-hour drive to the renowned Tamul Waterfall. We will stop for breakfast en route. Upon arrival, you have 4 hours to immerse yourself in this stunning location. Ascend aboard a traditional panga boat to navigate toward the Cueva del Agua, where turquoise waters await your gaze.

Next, we will drive for another 1.5 hours to the captivating Puente de Dios, another magnificent natural site in Huasteca Potosina. You'll embark on a 3-hour guided exploration of this site, followed by free time to enjoy lunch.

After enjoying your meal, we will return to our hotel in Ciudad Valles, allowing for a restful evening and dinner at your leisure.

Day 4: Ciudad Valles - Cave of Swallows - Xilitla - Return to Mexico City

On the final day, we will rise early and check out of the hotel in Ciudad Valles to head to the Cave of Swallows, an extraordinary natural sinkhole just an hour away. Once there, you’ll embark on a 2.5-hour hike in this remarkable site, one of the world’s largest bird sanctuaries.

Following our exploration, you will have just over 2 hours to enjoy breakfast and discover the charming Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) of Aquismón. Later, we will continue on a 1-hour journey to Xilitla, where there will be a 2-hour guiding tour of Las Pozas, a surreal collection of unique structures nestled in lush gardens, crafted by Edward James that will undoubtedly captivate you.

In the afternoon, you will have 3 hours to wander through the Pueblo Mágico of Xilitla and savor its culinary offerings.

Finally, we will come together to begin our trip back to Mexico City, where we anticipate arriving the following day at around 3 am.

This tour provides 2 nights of accommodation in Ciudad Valles at the quality Hotel Tamtokow (3 stars) or a comparable option.
