The journey begins at the statue of the donkey-taxi. From here, we will ascend via a modern public elevator, providing us with stunning views of the Avenida del Compás and its iconic donkey taxis.

The intriguing history behind this unique mode of transport is certain to astonish you! Next, we will visit the Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña, a chapel carved from rock by Mercedarian monks in the mid-16th century.

Our exploration will lead us past the Plaza de la Constitución towards the remnants of the ancient Arab wall. As we stroll through the charming streets adorned with whitewashed façades, we will arrive at Mijas' main ecclesiastical site, the Immaculada Concepción church, constructed atop the site of an Andalusian mosque.

Prior to descending to the lower area of Mijas, we will take a leisurely walk through La Muralla Park, where the viewpoints present breathtaking vistas of the Mediterranean coastline of the Costa del Sol. While returning to the town center, we might be fortunate enough to watch one of the many public open-air flamenco performances that often occur near the shopping streets.

From the shopping district, we will proceed to Plaza de la Libertad and Málaga street to explore additional iconic sites in Mijas, including the San Sebastian chapel and the CAC Contemporary Art Centre (consider visiting it at the conclusion of our tour).

The tour will conclude with our return to the Plaza de la Virgen de la Peña.
