A visit to Milan remains incomplete without experiencing the iconic Duomo. Join us as we delve into this stunning cathedral and ascend to its terrace for sweeping views of the fashion capital.

Tour Details

At the scheduled time, we will gather at Piazza del Duomo number 4 to kick off our exploration with an overview of the Duomo as we take in the intricate facade.

We will first enter the cathedral that, unsurprisingly, took centuries to be fully realized. This impressive structure was initiated in 1386 under the direction of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, the initial Duke of Milan, and was constructed on the remains of two earlier churches: Santa Maria Maggiore and Santa Tecla.

As we wander through this cathedral, rich in artistry, history, and spirituality, we will pause to appreciate the exquisite stained glass windows alongside the extraordinary Gothic architectural elements. Interestingly, the Duomo holds the title of the largest church in Italy and ranks fifth globally.

Next, we will take a lift to ascend to the stunning rooftop terrace. Spanning 86,111 square feet (8,000 square meters), it offers views of 135 spires, pinnacles, flying buttresses, and a multitude of statues. Remarkably, the Duomo houses approximately 3,400 statues! Crafted over many centuries, they depict a diverse array of biblical and historical characters, as well as fantastical creatures and intriguing silhouettes. In recent years, new statues were added to reflect the modern history of the city.

After two hours of this enlightening journey, our tour will conclude at the Milan Cathedral.
