We will gather 10 minutes prior to the start time, meeting at the Parador Nacional de Turismo, before embarking on our walking adventure through Monforte de Lemos, the heart of the Ribeira Sacra.

The tour begins with breathtaking panoramic views of the Lemos Valley, where you’ll discover intriguing historical insights about this Lugo town, established in 1104. Our first stop will be the Monte de San Vicente monumental complex. As we navigate this site, you’ll have the opportunity to see the County Palace, the Church of San Vicente del Pino, and the impressive castle along with its keep from the outside. We will also visit the cloisters of the Monastery of San Vicente del Pino.

Continuing our journey, we’ll stroll through the enchanting medieval village, where we’ll encounter the Campillo de la Virgen and its ancient walls, including the three significant gates. Our walk will take us through falagueira, the vital street at the core of the medieval burgh, leading us to remnants of the Jewish quarter, a treasured part of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters. Here, we’ll explore the remnants of an old synagogue and delve into the history of Galicia’s prominent Jewish community.

As we leave the medieval district behind, we’ll view the significant Dominican Convent and the current Church of A Régoa, alongside the charming old bridge and the exterior of the Convent of the Poor Clares.

To conclude our expedition, we’ll pass by the Ribeira Sacra Wine Centre en route to the Plaza de España. After two enriching hours filled with history and stunning architecture, our guided tour of Monforte de Lemos will come to a close.
