Itinerary

Our adventure begins at the designated meeting point in Piazza Grande in Montepulciano, where we will commence our exploration of this stunning hilltop town.

From the square, we will marvel at the architectural beauty of key landmarks including the Santa Assunta Cathedral, the majestic Palazzo Comunale, and the iconic Well of the Griffins and Lions. Following this, we will wander through the old town, passing impressive Renaissance palaces until we reach the serene Madonna di San Biagio Sanctuary. Here, we will take a closer look at the sanctuary's exterior, discussing its significance as a quintessential example of Tuscan Renaissance design.

Next, we will visit a nearby underground cellar to experience a delightful tasting of the Montepulciano Vino Nobile wine, one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious wine varieties.

Once replenished, we will board a minibus for a scenic drive through the picturesque Orcia Valley towards Pienza, heralded as the epitome of Renaissance urban planning. This title captures the grandeur of its buildings and the classical design principles that govern its streets.

Upon arriving, our tour will lead us through Pienza's historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will appreciate the Pienza Cathedral façade, explore the elegant Piccolomini and Borgia palaces, and have an opportunity to sample some delectable pecorino cheese—a local favorite.

The tour will conclude with our return to the original meeting point after approximately three hours of enriching exploration.
