Matacanes Canyon Canyoning Tour
Description
Are you in search of thrill in Nuevo León? Experience the excitement of canyoning in the Matacanes Canyon, an exceptional gorge nestled in the Sierra de Santiago.
Activity Overview
We will convene at the Hotel Hacienda Cola de Caballo at the arranged time, situated approximately an hour’s journey from downtown Monterrey.
After everyone has gathered, we will board a 4x4 vehicle for a scenic drive of about 1 hour towards Potrero Redondo. This beautiful area lies in the center of the Sierra de Santiago, showcasing some of Nuevo León’s most breathtaking scenery.
Upon our arrival, we’ll enjoy a light meal while preparing with wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, and other essential gear. Once equipped, we’ll embark on a 1.5-hour hike through lush pine woodlands. Our journey will lead us to the renowned Matacanes Canyon, where we’ll tackle canyoning and descend a vertical drop of 27 meters (89 ft).
Following this exhilarating descent, we’ll navigate a series of pristine turquoise pools and continue along our canyoning path through the Matacanes Canyon to a different segment. Here, we’ll take on another rappel from 17 meters (56 ft), presenting an exciting challenge!
Once we conquer this final hurdle, we’ll replenish our energy with a light meal enjoyed outdoors. Post-lunch, we will hike back for about 1 hour to Potrero Redondo and then return via an off-road vehicle to the Hotel Hacienda Cola de Caballo, marking the end of this 14.5-hour adventure.
