Cirque de Navacelles Day Trip
Description
Explore the stunning landscapes and impressive gorge within the Hérault department on this Day Trip to Cirque de Navacelles from Montpellier.
Day Trip to Cirque de Navacelles
We will gather at 9 am at the Mosson tram station and travel by minibus towards Hérault, renowned as one of the most picturesque areas in the Occitania region, particularly the Larza plateau.
Our journey will commence at the base of Mont Saint-Baudille, where we will start to take in the natural splendor of southern France. Following our appreciation of the landscapes, we will proceed to the renowned Cirque de Navacelles gorge, a stunning geological feature featuring cliffs that rise up to 984 ft (300 m)! We will visit either the Baume d'Auriol or Blandas viewpoint, depending on attendance, to gain a closer look at the narrow gorge.
As we near the cirque, we will catch sight of the quaint village of Navacelles, with houses that resemble something out of a fairytale. Many of these structures are perched directly on the rock, alongside the flowing waterfalls of the river Vis, creating a picturesque scene that will be forever imprinted in your memory.
A break will be provided for you to enjoy lunch at your leisure in this enchanting location, accompanied by the soothing sounds of the waterfalls. We suggest packing a picnic lunch for this occasion.
In the afternoon, we will take a brief walk along the banks of the Vis to visit the notable mills of La Foux, situated close to the village of Vissec.
To conclude our day, after a quick stop to take in the splendid views of the Gardois, we will return to Montpellier at around 4 pm.
