Experience Monument Valley after sunset, and immerse yourself in one of the brightest night skies by joining either our stargazing or moonlight tour. Nestled on the border between Arizona and Utah, this remarkable area holds great cultural importance for the Navajo nation. When night falls, Monument Valley unveils its true beauty, boasting a vast, clear, star-filled sky.

Below you will find the details of each tour, both of which commence at The View Hotel lobby and feature an experienced Navajo guide. This guide will share cultural insights and offer tips for stunning photography as we explore the valley.

Stargazing Tour

At the scheduled hour, we will depart in our vehicle towards the initial observation point within Monument Valley. This experience is designed for nights when the moon is not full, helping to minimize light pollution and allowing us to fully appreciate the beauty of the starry expanse.

Throughout the journey, we will halt 3 to 4 times at optimal locations for stargazing. As we approach unique geology such as Forrest Gump Hill and Teardrop Arch, watch how the stunning rock features gleam under the subtle light of the stars, protected from artificial light.

During the tour, our guide will teach us how to operate a telescope and provide valuable photography tips to help us capture breathtaking night images. To enhance the experience, we will be treated to a live Navajo music performance along the way!

After approximately 3 hours, we will reconvene at the meeting point, concluding our adventure.

Moonlight Tour

When you choose this tour, prepare to witness Monument Valley illuminated by moonlight! This outing is available only during nights of a full moon, ensuring optimal conditions for appreciating the desert's beauty.

We will gather at the appointed time and set out into the desert as the full moon ascends over the iconic sandstone buttes and mesas. The remote nature of Monument Valley allows the moon's gentle radiance to wash over the landscape, creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere.

During this journey, we will explore 3 to 4 prime viewpoints, including Forrest Gump Hill and Teardrop Arch, where our local guide will highlight the impressive shapes and shadows formed by the valley's geological features. They will also assist us with telescope use and provide additional photography guidance for night scenes.

To enrich your evening, we will enjoy a traditional music performance from our guide, concluding our 3-hour adventure back at the meeting point.
