Elephanta Caves Private Half-Day Trip
Description
Explore one of Mumbai's most important temples. Elephanta Caves will amaze you with their ancient stone terraces, statues and wall carvings dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
Tour Details
After your hotel pickup on the morning of the tour, the first stop will be the iconic Gateway of India. From there, you'll board a tourist boat to sail to the stunning Elephanta Caves, a World Heritage Site and one of Mumbai's most significant temples.
Following a little over an hour of sailing, you'll reach Elephanta Island, home to a complex of seven caves. In a striking contrast to the hustle and bustle of Mumbai, enjoy the serenity of Elephanta as you explore the principal temple dedicated to the Hindu sun god, Shiva.
The colossal carvings adorning the temple walls depict various tales from Shiva's life, with the island's most impressive feature being the central three-headed statue, representing the god's three facets: creator, protector, and destroyer.
After you've enjoyed your time on the island, you will be returned to the pickup point approximately 4 hours after your departure.
