Nuremberg Day Trip
Description
Spend a full day discovering Bavaria's second largest city. Engage with Nuremberg's rich and intricate history, while enjoying stunning views of traditional German wooden houses along the banks of the Pegnitz River.
Nuremberg Day Trip
After meeting in Munich, you will embark on your comfortable express train journey, lasting less than two hours to reach Nuremberg. Upon arrival, you'll begin a guided tour of the city's historic centre, uncovering the significant events that shaped the city's past. Nuremberg not only played a crucial role in Nazi Germany but was also a cultural hub during the German Empire, featuring a wealth of narratives to explore.
Stroll through the charming Altstadt, or Old Town, divided by the Pegnitz River. Within the historical architecture, marvel at the Imperial Castle, the seat of German Emperors, and admire the spectacular Gothic churches that house important German artworks, not to mention the lively markets that have thrived for nearly 700 years. You will also enjoy some free time to wander Nuremberg's picturesque sights at your own pace and have lunch (not included) — if your visit falls in December, you’ll be treated to the city’s renowned Christmas market!
Your tour will also lead you to significant reminders of the Nazi era. A visit to the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, the largest remaining Third Reich building in the world, will allow your guide to detailed discussions about the 20th century's most famous judicial proceedings, known as the Nuremberg Trials, which notably prosecuted those responsible for the Nazi crimes of World War II.
After concluding your tour, you will return to Munich, arriving back approximately 10 hours later.
