Delos Island Day Trip
Description
Renowned for its ancient treasures, Delos stands as one of Greece's foremost historical landmarks. Embark on a journey to uncover its remarkable heritage with this day trip from Mykonos.
Details of the Day Trip
Upon arrival at the selected meeting point during your booking, we will board a ferry to set sail on this excursion to Delos.
After a scenic 30-minute voyage across the Aegean Sea, we will step onto the shores of the island of Delos. Immediately after reaching land, our path will lead us to the island's most noteworthy historical landmarks, where a guided exploration of the archaeological site of Delos will commence, lasting around 1.5 hours.
With insights from your guide, you will delve into the ancient theatre of Delos and its vicinity, a region recognized by UNESCO for its profound historical significance. Here, we'll visit the former residences of notable figures such as Delian, Dionysus, and Cleopatra.
Next, we will ascend the hill to admire the renowned Delos theatre. Your guide will share tales of the performances that once filled this venue, astonishingly constructed in the third century BC and capable of accommodating up to 5,000 spectators.
The journey continues to the Temple of Apollo, where the iconic Delos lions rest—a collection of marble sculptures devoted to the god Apollo.
Though this striking assembly of lion statues was originally more extensive, some were claimed by Mediterranean empires throughout history. Can you guess which one? The answer may come as a surprise… Following our exploration of other intriguing remnants like the House of the Dolphins and the Doric Temple of Isis, you'll have 50 minutes for personal discovery.
In conclusion, we will board the ferry for our return to the meeting point, completing our adventure in approximately four hours.
