Caminito del Rey & Álora Day Trip in Small Group
Description
Conquer your apprehension of heights on this excursion to the Caminito del Rey, where you will navigate the renowned gorge located in Málaga province, accompanied by a small group of up to 10 participants. You will also have the opportunity to explore Álora, one of the picturesque villages in the Valle del Guadalhorce.
Details of the Excursion
Our adventure begins at the exit of the Atarazanas metro station, from where we will board a minibus for a journey into the verdant heart of the province.
After approximately 45 minutes, we will arrive at the Caminito del Rey, an extraordinary network of walkways that rises 328 ft (100 m) above the Los Gaitanes gorge. This 3-hour exploration will take you along paths that were originally inaugurated in the 1920s by King Alfonso XIII, and have been reopened for visitors since 2015.
As we traverse the trails of the Caminito del Rey, in our small group of maximum 10 people, you will be treated to stunning views of the river and the Guadalhorce dam, alongside the Sierra de Huma. Nestled within the Paraje Natural del Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, this captivating environment promises breathtaking landscapes!
Completing the tour of the Caminito del Rey, you will enjoy 15 minutes of leisure time at the Visitor Center for a bathroom break or a light snack. Following this, we will head back to our minibus for a 30-minute drive to Álora, celebrated as one of the most enchanting towns in Málaga's Valle del Guadalhorce.
Upon arrival, we will embark on a walking tour through Álora. During this hour-long exploration, we will visit the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, one of the largest churches in the region. Adjacent to this church, the Museo Municipal Rafael Leria showcases the area’s cultural heritage. Our tour will also include the Castillo de Álora, a grand fortress with origins tracing back to the Phoenician period.
After concluding our guided exploration of Álora, we will make our way back to Málaga, where this enriching day of adventure will conclude after 7 engaging hours.
