Description
Explore Malaga's historic centre with a local guide. Get to know its most important streets and monuments in a fun and entertaining way.
Free Walking Tour of Malaga
Setting off from Plaza de la Marina, our free tour will begin with a stroll through the main streets of this Andalusian city. Here, you'll see one of its most iconic symbols, the bronze statue dedicated to the 'cenachero', the fishermen who once hawked their wares in the city streets.
You'll continue your adventure up the pedestrianised Calle Larios, a notable shopping street on the Costa del Sol. Next, we'll reach the Plaza de la Constitución, the former Plaza Mayor, which has served as a public and political space since the 15th century.
Our next stop will be Plaza del Obispo, one of the city's most important squares. Here, you'll get a close-up view of the Malaga Cathedral and learn why it is popularly known as 'La Manquita', or the 'One-Armed Lady.'
From here, we'll head to Plaza de la Merced to discover more about Malaga's most significant artist, Pablo Picasso. We will observe the Picasso Birthplace Museum from the outside before continuing our tour. We will then stroll down Calle Alcazabilla, where you can admire the ancient remains of Malaga's Roman Theatre before concluding the tour by visiting the Alcazaba. This Moorish palace fortress, together with the Almería Alcazaba and the Granada Alhambra, plays an important role in the legacy of Al-Andalus.
Finally, we'll wrap up this activity after approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours.
