We'll commence our private exploration of Modica at the designated meeting point, right in front of San Giorgio Cathedral. This city, nestled in the province of Ragusa, promises a breathtaking experience with its architectural charm.

Modica is uniquely structured on two distinct levels: Upper Modica and Lower Modica. Our journey will start in the upper section, where we'll take in the stunning facade of San Giorgio Cathedral, celebrated as one of the great icons of Sicilian Baroque.

We’ll enter the cathedral to admire its intricately designed stuccoes and artistic masterpieces, along with the Sacred Ark, which preserves the relics of the cathedral’s patron saint. Upon exiting the cathedral, sweeping vistas of the lower city will greet us, sparking thoughts of other famous Italian locales—can you guess which one?

As we proceed to Lower Modica, we’ll wander through charming narrow alleys and staircases, where remnants of the Castle of the Counts await us, perched on rocky heights. Our Modica tour will also take us to the former residence of Salvatore Quasimodo, a Nobel Prize-winning Sicilian author that now serves as a museum. Once we arrive in Modica Basso, we’ll venture into the late-baroque Cathedral of San Pietro, which features a staircase adorned with enchanting statues!
