Pompeii & Mount Vesuvius Small-Group Day Trip

The eruption of Vesuvius buried Pompeii under ash and lava. On this small-group day trip, we will explore its history, enjoy views of the Gulf of Naples from the slopes of the volcano, and walk amidst the remnants of temples, theatres, and mosaics that reveal the daily life of ancient Rome.

Day Trip Details

At the scheduled time, we will meet at the entrance to the Starhotels Terminus, located in the center of Naples. From there, we'll embark on a journey that integrates archaeology and nature in two of Campania's most iconic locations. Let's proceed.

First, we will travel for 1 hour to Mount Vesuvius. Once we reach an altitude of 1,000 m (3,281 ft) above sea level, we will start our walk up to the crater's edge. The effort will be rewarded!

Here, you will experience remarkable views of the Gulf of Naples. During this time, we will discuss the geological features and the significant eruptions of Vesuvius. This will be an enlightening experience!

After approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes of exploration, we will descend along a scenic road to a renowned pizzeria located on the slopes of the volcano, where we will pause for lunch. You can enjoy an authentic Neapolitan pizza, choosing from the classic margherita or marinara options, paired with a drink.

With your hunger satisfied, we will proceed to Pompeii, one of the most notable archaeological sites in the world. For 2 hours, we will have a guided tour to explore the remnants of this Roman city, which was buried by Vesuvius's eruption in 79 AD.

Accompanied by a guide, we will navigate through the principal areas excavated since the 18th century: its cobbled streets, baths, ovens, theatres, temples, and opulent villas adorned with frescoes and mosaics that retain their vibrant coloring. You’ll be captivated!

Finally, we will begin our return to Naples and conclude our tour at the starting point after a total of 8 hours.

Itinerary Changes

During the winter season, from November 1 to March 31, the order of the itinerary may be altered. We will visit Pompeii in the morning and Vesuvius in the afternoon.
