Oak Alley Plantation Tour
Description
Experience the charm of a stunning plantation mansion, the allure of a majestic oak tree avenue, and delve into significant historical events during this Oak Alley tour, regarded as one of Louisiana's most treasured and well-preserved estates.
Oak Alley Plantation Tour
Your journey begins with a pick-up from your New Orleans hotel between 8:15 and 8:45 am, after which we will travel to Oak Alley plantation, situated approximately an hour and fifteen minutes away along the banks of the Mississippi River.
As we approach, prepare to traverse the breathtaking archway of oak trees that lends its name to the plantation, ultimately leading us to the grand mansion constructed in 1837. A professional guide, donned in historical attire, will lead us on an enlightening half-hour tour of the mansion's exquisite interiors.
Throughout our time in the mansion, we will uncover the opulent lifestyle of the plantation owners and confront the somber realities of history. You will come across compelling narratives, including the profound fact that over 100 enslaved individuals labored in harsh conditions at Oak Alley.
Upon concluding our exploration of the main house, you will have 90 minutes to wander the estate at your own pace. As you stroll the grounds, take in the historical slave quarters, informative displays detailing the cost of black labor, the working farm, and the various meticulously kept gardens.
The tour will wrap up with our return to New Orleans, where you will be dropped off at your hotel around 1:30 pm.
