9/11 Memorial & Museum Guided Tour
Description
Immerse yourself in the significant events that reshaped modern history through this guided visit to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. This poignant experience offers insights into the events of September 11, 2001, along with their historical context and lasting effects.
Tour of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum
We will gather at the designated time at the entrance of the main pavilion of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, which is situated above the Memorial grounds.
With your knowledgeable guide, you will descend into over 10,000 m² (approximately 10763 ft²) of exhibit space, constructed atop the original foundations of the Twin Towers. Throughout the tour, we will navigate through essential halls and galleries within the site.
During our journey through the museum, you will encounter genuine archaeological artifacts from the former World Trade Center complex, including the renowned "Survivors' Stairs," which facilitated the escape of many individuals that day.
Subsequently, we will progress to the majestic areas at the base of the building. In Memorial Hall, found between the footprints of the towers, you will view an installation by artist Tom Joyce, crafted from salvaged steel, inscribed with the words of the poet Virgil: "No day shall erase you from the memory of time."
Our next stop will be Foundation Hall, where the impressive slurry wall that endured the collapse is located. Here, you will also see the "Last Column"—the final steel beam taken from Ground Zero, adorned with messages and artifacts left by rescue teams.
Once the one-hour guided portion of the tour is complete, you are welcome to stay and explore the museum's historical and interactive exhibits at your leisure.
