2-Day Washington DC and Philadelphia Excursion

Day 1: Departing New York for Philadelphia and Washington DC

This journey begins at 6:30 am as we set off from New York, traversing through New Jersey and Pennsylvania to arrive in Philadelphia, recognized as one of America's oldest urban centers.

Upon our arrival, we will delve into the historic district, where we will visit iconic landmarks such as the renowned Liberty Bell, Constitution Square, Congress Hall, and Elfreth's Alley, the oldest continuously inhabited street in the nation. We will also wander through the city's financial district, stroll along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and discover numerous other significant sites.

Before departing Philadelphia, we will explore the Aerospace Museum and make a stop at the infamous 'Rocky Steps' outside the Museum of Art, made famous by the movie 'Rocky'. Next, we will continue our journey east towards Lancaster County, home to the oldest Amish community in America.

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to step back in time as you take a ride in a traditional Buggy through the Amish countryside. Experience the distinct lifestyle of the Amish community, which thrives without modern conveniences, such as electricity and running water. Following this, we will visit a local marketplace, where you can browse stalls filled with handmade arts and crafts.

In the afternoon, we will leave Philadelphia and head to Washington DC, arriving in the evening and checking in at the Wyndham Garden Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Exploring Washington DC before Returning to New York

The second day begins with a visit to the significant Thomas Jefferson Memorial, located by the picturesque Tidal Basin, framed by blossoming cherry trees. The itinerary also includes a trip to Arlington National Cemetery, where we'll witness the Changing of the Guard and pay our respects at the Kennedy family gravesite.

Next, we will head to Capitol Hill, where we’ll examine both the US Capitol and the White House, learning about the structure of the US government. Afterward, we will visit the Air and Space Museum as well as the Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Korea, and Vietnam Memorials.

The tour wraps up as we leave Washington in the late afternoon, returning to New York by evening, with an estimated arrival back at the original starting point between 8:00 and 8:30 pm.
