Musée de la Romanité Admission
Opened in 2018, the Musée de la Romanité in Nîmes has established itself as a key destination for those interested in the heritage of Roman civilization that is notably preserved in the southern region of France.
Positioned directly across from the famous Arena of Nîmes, this museum features an innovative architectural design by renowned French-Brazilian architect Elizabeth de Portzamparc.
Your admission ticket provides access to the permanent exhibition, which displays an impressive array of pottery, mosaics, sculptures, and various items from both the pre-Roman era (800 to 100 BC) and the Roman period (27 BC to 400 AD). Furthermore, one floor is dedicated to the medieval era, showcasing remarkable sarcophagi and artifacts from 1000 to 1500 AD.
It is also advisable to visit the museum’s panoramic terrace, where stunning vistas of Nîmes await. Do not overlook the archaeological garden found at the rear of the building, featuring various remnants from Roman history.

Visiting Hours
- April to October: daily from 10 am to 7 pm
- November to March: Wednesday to Monday from 10 am to 6 pm
The final entry is allowed one hour prior to closing time.
No admission fee is required on the following occasions:
- First Sunday of the month, excluding July and August
- Special seasonal dates, including the European Heritage Days and the festivities of Grand Jeux Romains.

How to get to the museum
Musée de la Romanité in Nîmes is located at the following address: Boulevard des Arènes, 16 (opposite the Arènes de Nîmes Roman amphitheater).
You must show this voucher at the museum's ticket office. There you will receive your ticket to access the permanent exhibition.
Opening hours
- April to October: open every day from 10 am to 7 pm
- November to March: open from Wednesday to Mondays from 10 am to 6 pm
The last permitted access is one hour before closing time.
