Ensérune Archaeological Site Tickets
Description
Discover the fascinating archaeological site of Ensérune with this ticket, which provides access to an ancient Gallic settlement situated on a hill, referred to as an "oppidum."
Reasons to Explore the Ensérune Archaeological Site
Located on a hill crafted in the Roman oppidum style, the Ensérune archaeological site represents a prominent destination in the Hérault region of Occitania for anyone interested in Antiquity.
Your admission ticket allows you to discover the remnants of this ancient Gallic settlement. Notable among its features is a silo, which served as a crucial storage location for valuable grains.
In addition to the oppidum, your ticket provides entry to the Ensérune Archaeological Museum. The museum showcases seven centuries of historical artifacts from this Mediterranean-area settlement, which was influenced by various cultures, including Celts, Iberians, Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans.
The museum also features models and 3-D reconstructions of the archaeological finds within the oppidum. Visitors can explore a dedicated area that replicates the workspace of Felix Mouret, the archaeologist who led the excavation in 1916.
During your visit to Ensérune, you'll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views stretching from the Cévennes to the Pyrenees, while taking in the sprawling Languedoc plain that leads to the Mediterranean coastline.
