Sunset Hike on Tamaya Hill

Embark on a twilight trek that offers a chance to witness one of the most stunning sunsets in the Coquimbo region of Chile, from the vantage point of Tamaya hill. Here, the minimal light pollution enhances the experience, providing an unparalleled view of the descending sun.

Twilight Trek at Tamaya Hill

We will begin by collecting you from your Ovalle hotel at the pre-arranged time, then proceed to the historic mining site of Tamaya, notable for its significant contributions to global copper mining in the past.

Upon arrival, our hike on Tamaya hill will commence just as the sun starts its descent. During this journey, we will cover 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) along a trail of moderate difficulty, gaining an elevation of 317 meters (1,040 feet).

The highlight of our adventure awaits as we reach the summit of Tamaya hill, perched at an impressive altitude of 1,180 meters (3,870 feet). The panoramic vistas will captivate us, and we’ll take a moment to enjoy a snack break featuring juice, a cereal bar, and cookies.

From this vantage point, we’ll watch the sun sink below the coastal landscapes, valleys, and mountains of Coquimbo. If you're passionate about photography, don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the breathtaking Chilean scenery.

After soaking in the views, we will retrace our steps back to the hike's starting point before returning to your hotel in Ovalle, completing the journey approximately five hours after pickup.

This experience includes collection from hotels located in downtown Ovalle. For guests situated in more isolated areas, pick-up will be arranged at the designated time from the Plaza de Armas, the city’s central square.
