At the agreed time, we will gather at Piazza Giuseppe Verdi to board a vehicle headed to Monreale, located only 30 minutes from Palermo. Are you ready to discover the wonders that await?
During the initial 15 minutes of travel, an English audio guide will provide you with intriguing insights and historical context about the region.
Upon arriving in Monreale, you will be dropped off in the vibrant historical center, where two of the city’s main attractions await: the Cathedral and the Benedictine Cloister. Here, you can take an hour to explore the Cathedral, a true masterpiece of Norman artistry.
The exterior features a modest design, while the interior dazzles with magnificent Byzantine mosaics depicting biblical narratives. Remarkably, this cathedral boasts the largest mosaic collection in Italy, covering over 6,000 square meters (approximately 64,583 square feet) with intricate glass and stone tesserae. Among these, the renowned Christ Pantocrator can be found prominently displayed in the central apse.
Following your visit to the Cathedral, you may proceed to the adjacent Benedictine Cloister. This remarkable site showcases a blend of Norman architecture infused with elements of Arabic and Romanesque styles. Its collection of more than 200 intricately carved columns, each with distinct designs, exemplifies the zenith of medieval sculpture. This building is undoubtedly a singular achievement! You'll have 45 minutes to explore the cloister freely.

In conclusion, we will embark on our return journey to Palermo, with a total duration of approximately 4 hours for the entire experience.
