Join us for an exploration of Colon, where we will navigate along the stunning Caribbean shores of Panama. This journey includes visits to historical military installations situated along the Panama Canal.

Colon & Panama Canal Exploration

Your experience will commence at 8 am with a pickup from your hotel in Panama City, followed by a scenic drive towards the Caribbean coastline.

After approximately one hour on the road, we will reach Colon, a remarkable city located on Panama's northern coast. Our first stop will be the neighborhoods of Margarita and Rainbow City, areas once home to the workers of the Caribbean segment of the Panama Canal.

We will then proceed to the historic site of Fort Gulick, where the remains of the former United States Army School of the Americas can be observed. This military training facility, once operated by the United States, was associated with training several controversial Latin American leaders, including Manuel Antonio Noriega of Panama, Augusto Pinochet from Chile, and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua.

Our journey continues to another significant military landmark located along the Caribbean edge of the Panama Canal, the former Fort Davis, home to the National Police Academy today. After delving into its past, we will proceed to the northern locks of the canal.

Next, we’ll visit the historical Sherman military base, from where we will make our way to a restaurant at Shelter Bay Marina, allowing you to enjoy a 30-minute lunch on your own. To wrap up our exploration, we will embark on a scenic drive through Colon, where you will have the opportunity to see other notable military installations, including the Morgan Battery.

After our tour of Colon, we will return you to your hotel in Panama City, arriving around 2 pm.
