Day Trip Overview

Imagine spending an entire day in a zoo nestled within Panama’s tropical forest. After collecting you from your hotel, we will embark on a journey northwest to delve into the vibrant ecosystem of Ancón. Let the exploration commence!

Following a scenic 40-minute drive, we will arrive at Parque Municipal Summit, a cherished zoo and botanical garden established in 1923, recognized as a key institution focused on conservation and environmental education.

Our adventure will begin with a guided tour of the botanical garden, showcasing a diverse collection of tropical and subtropical plants from around the globe. We'll navigate pathways enveloped by over 1,500 plant species, from towering palms to delicate heliconias and venerable trees. This is an ideal moment to gain insights into the medicinal and native plants of Panama.

Next, we’ll explore the Summit Municipal Park Wildlife Refuge, which is home to an impressive array of more than 300 rescued animals. You'll have the opportunity to view the magnificent harpy eagle, Panama's national bird, renowned for its majestic stature and formidable presence. Additionally, expect encounters with jaguars, howler monkeys, sloths, capybaras, toucans, macaws, and various other species exhibiting the remarkable biodiversity of the region.

We will also visit the butterfly house, a vibrant sanctuary abundant with tropical butterflies flitting about amidst the blooms. This interactive environment offers valuable insights into the local ecosystem.

After this, you’ll enjoy 45 minutes of free time to capture photos and soak in the tranquil atmosphere.
