Pelotas Guided Tour
Description
On this guided tour of Pelotas, we will discover the historical heritage of this city in Brazil, known as the Princess of the South.
Pelotas Guided Tour
We will meet at 10 am at Plaza Coronel Pedro Osório, located in the heart of Pelotas. This tour will explore the city's origins in 1758 and its significant connection to salt, a vital commodity at the time. We will discuss the charqueadas, sites where salt was extracted along the Canal São Gonçalo.
As we walk through the historic centre, we will learn why Pelotas earned the nickname Princess of the South and how the city emerged as a key economic center in the region. The impressive Portuguese mansions that line the streets serve as evidence of the city's affluent history.
We will conclude the tour at 12 pm noon.
