Discover the charming villages nestled around Peniscola with the Traiguera & Cervera del Maestre excursion. This journey will immerse you in the rich traditions of olive cultivation, allow you to savor exquisite olive oils, and include a visit to the revered Royal Sanctuary Virgen Fuente de la Salud.

Traiguera & Cervera del Maestre Excursion

We will convene at 9:30 am in front of the Peniscola Tourist Office before embarking on our journey to Traiguera. The minibus or coach ride will last approximately 30 minutes.

The first highlight of our trip features a visit to a millennia-old olive tree plantation. Here, you will gain insight into the meticulous care required for these trees, discover the intricacies of olive harvesting, and learn about the process of producing olive oil. To enhance the experience, participants will have the opportunity to sample this liquid gold, paired with local cold cuts.

After spending an hour at the olive grove, we will continue to the village of Cervera del Maestre, where a guided tour awaits. You will have the chance to explore notable landmarks, including the Church of the Assumption, the stunning Baroque bell tower, and the remnants of the Medieval market. Additionally, we will pause for a glimpse of the 12th-century castle from the outside and visit the Oil Mill Visitor Centre.

Our journey will then take us back to Traiguera, where we will explore the Royal Sanctuary Virgen Fuente de la Salud. During this visit, you will wander through various sections of this religious site, which include the historic pilgrims' hostel and the medieval hermitage. The intricate frescoes embellishing the sanctuary are sure to leave a lasting impression.

The excursion is set to conclude at 2 pm, returning to our original meeting point in Peniscola.
