Penguin Parade at Phillip Island
Description
Did you know that the tiniest penguins on earth spend their days fishing and return to land only after sunset? Experience this firsthand by witnessing the Penguin Parade on Phillip Island!
Penguin Parade at Phillip Island
Each day, as the shadows lengthen and twilight paints Melbourne’s skyline, a remarkable event begins. Just a short drive of an hour and a half from the city is Phillip Island, home to the Visitor Centre for the Penguin Parade. Upon arriving in the evening for your activity, you'll receive guidance on how to make your way to Summerland Beach, a picturesque spot furnished with seating designed for watching the return of the fairy penguins at twilight!
Unwind and listen to the soothing ocean waves while you await the arrival of the little penguin colony. These charming creatures, the smallest among penguin species, daily return to the island's sandy dunes after a tireless day out at sea.
As you observe this mesmerising display of nature from up close, you’ll be delighted by the intelligence of these tiny birds as they navigate back to their burrows each night! This truly special experience will leave a lasting impression.
Penguin Parade Timing
The park opens its gates at 5:30 pm, yet the parade starts only at sunset, with the arrival time of the penguins varying by season.
