Details of the Day Trip

Our journey begins on Avenida João Bosco Mota Amaral, in Ponta Delgada, the capital of São Miguel. From there, we'll travel along the picturesque southern coastline, making our first stop at the delightful coastal settlement of Vila Franca do Campo. Here, you'll be able to view the Islet of Vila Franco do Campo, a prominent volcanic caldera that lies just offshore.

Continuing our adventure, we'll venture inland, where the landscape reveals the island's ongoing volcanic activity. We will explore the calderas and the lagoon of Furnas, uncovering the fascinating origins of various volcanic vents.

After immersing ourselves in the geological wonders, we’ll enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant to recharge our energy. Once refreshed, we’ll proceed to the northern part of the island to visit the renowned Gorreana tea plantations, celebrated as one of the most famous tea producers in the Azores. Here, you will have the opportunity to sample some of their exquisite teas, rich in aroma and flavor, with a delightful hint of sweetness. Finally, we will make our way back to Ponta Delgada.
