Tour Overview

At the pre-arranged time, an off-roading vehicle will pick you up from your hotel located in Ponta Delgada as we set off towards the western part of the island.

Following a 30-minute journey, we’ll reach our initial destination: the Vista del Rey viewpoint. Here, we’ll take in the magnificent volcanic caldera along with its scenic lagoons. Subsequently, we’ll make our way down to Lagoa das Sete Cidades, where you will witness the stunning lake landscape molded by volcanic forces and stroll through its namesake village, notable for the striking neo-Gothic façade of the Igreja de São Nicolau.

Continuing our off-roading journey, we’ll pass the historic Muro das Nove Janelas, an ancient aqueduct that underscores the significance of water management on the island. Our next stop will be in Capelas, where captivating views of the coastline and basalt formations await along the Atlantic shores.

We will also visit Mulher do Capote, a traditional distillery where you can immerse yourself in the world of local Azorean liqueurs. Sampling these regional specialties here is an experience not to be missed!

When lunchtime arrives, we’ll take a break for you to enjoy a meal in the vicinity. Once you’ve recharged, we'll head towards Ribeira Grande, one of the vitally important historical towns in northern São Miguel. From there, we’ll proceed east to the Salto do Cabrito waterfall, a hidden gem surrounded by lush greenery, revealing the island's damp and rugged interior.

Our ultimate destination will be the renowned Lagoa do Fogo, recognized as one of the most stunning and well-preserved lakes in the Azores. Here, you’ll have the chance to gaze upon an almost untouched volcanic scenery. We will conclude at the Pico da Barrosa viewpoint, where a sweeping view of the lake and neighboring slopes awaits. Did you know that Lagoa do Fogo lies within a nature reserve and is one of the most iconic sites of São Miguel?

After a fulfilling 7-hour adventure, we’ll drop you back at your hotel.
