Tour Overview

We will gather at the arranged time outside the SATA Building in Ponta Delgada to kick off our journey across São Miguel. Are you prepared to unveil the treasures of this island? Let’s embark!

Our first destination, following a scenic 1-hour drive, is the Vista do Rei viewpoint. Here, you will be captivated by the enchanting Lagoa Verde and Lagoa Azul, or the Green and Blue Lagoons, located in Sete Cidades. This natural wonder is sure to leave a lasting impression, as these lagoons represent a protected area and are celebrated among the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal.

As we continue our tour, we'll make our way to the historic Gorreana tea plantation, located 1 hour and 15 minutes from Sete Cidades. Remarkably, it is the oldest operational tea plantation in Europe. Here, you will gain insights into the tea production process and sample some of the plantation's renowned varieties. Established in 1883, this site maintains its traditional practices rooted in Eastern methods.

Next, we will venture to Furnas, a distinctive volcanic area famous for its hot springs. You will enjoy 1.5 hours of leisure time to savor a meal and experience the traditional cozido das Furnas, a dish prepared underground using the earth's natural heat.

Following this, we will proceed to Vila Franca do Campo, the first capital of São Miguel, renowned for its beautiful islet and delectable traditional sweets. Our final stop will be at the Lagoa do Fogo viewpoint, offering one of the island's most stunning panoramas. Don't forget to capture the moment with a photograph!
