At the designated time, we will pick you up from your selected hotel in Port of Spain to embark on our adventure southward. Let’s get started!
After approximately one hour of travel, we will arrive in San Fernando, the second-largest city in Trinidad & Tobago. Continuing our journey, we will travel an additional 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) to reach La Brea Lake, commonly referred to as Pitch Lake.
This site features a remarkable natural asphalt deposit that plunges to a depth of nearly 80 meters (262 ft.). Intriguingly, various animals thrive here. You may wonder: which creatures can exist in such an environment devoid of oxygen? The natural phenomena in this region are truly fascinating!
Next, we will proceed to the town of Carapichaima, where we will explore the Temple in the Sea at Waterloo, a Hindu shrine dedicated to multiple deities within this religious practice. Here, we will narrate the unique story behind the construction of a non-Christian temple in Trinidad & Tobago.
Close by, we will find the impressive statue of Lord Hanuman, recognized as the largest Hindu statue outside of India. What inspired the creation of this statue on such a distant island? What does its unique shape symbolize?
We will conclude this wonderful trip after 8 hours, returning you to your hotel in Port of Spain.
