Day Trip Overview

Your journey will commence with a convenient pickup from your Porto hotel, followed by a guided excursion to Braga and Guimarães for groups of up to 8 participants. This format ensures a personalized experience while uncovering the highlights of northern Portugal.

Our first destination is Braga, reached via comfortable minibus. Here, we will delve into the "Portuguese Rome," a captivating city brimming with historical significance and awe-inspiring monuments. We start our adventure at the notable Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, renowned for its magnificent Baroque staircase, regarded as one of Portugal's most iconic landmarks.

Following our visit to this sacred site, we’ll proceed to the Braga Cathedral, famed as the oldest cathedral in Portugal. We’ll explore its stunning architecture, which seamlessly merges Romanesque and Baroque elements.

A leisurely stroll through Braga's historic center awaits, where we will uncover highlights such as the Archiepiscopal Palace of Braga, the vibrant Praça da República, and the striking Arco da Porta Nova.

Having experienced Braga, we’ll then set off for Guimarães, the historic birthplace of Portugal’s first monarch, Afonso Henriques. In Guimarães, we will tour its impressive medieval castle and enjoy a walk through its beautifully preserved historic center, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our exploration will cover the main sites of Guimarães, including Largo da Oliveira, the city's vibrant core, its ancient squares, and the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, a 15th-century manor characterized by its Norman-inspired architecture.

Finally, we’ll embark on our return trip to Porto, concluding this 9-hour day excursion.
