Aveiro, Costa Nova & Senhor da Pedra Church Day Trip
Description
Embark on a day trip to Aveiro and immerse yourself in the charm of the Portuguese Venice, where you can appreciate its art nouveau architecture and vibrant boats. An unforgettable experience awaits!
Aveiro Day Excursion & Boat Experience
At the scheduled time, we'll gather near the Monument to King Dom Pedro V, from where we will board a bus that will take us from Porto to Aveiro, the picturesque city adorned with canals, often referred to as the 'Portuguese Venice'.
After approximately 50 minutes on the road, we will arrive and kick off our guided exploration of Aveiro. During this walking tour, we'll visit notable landmarks, including the Ponte dos Carcavelos and the Capela de São Gonçalinho, as well as passing by the Museu de Arte Nova.
Following the tour, we will set sail for a 45-minute boat ride on a traditional "Moliceiros" boat, reminiscent of Venetian gondolas. As we glide through the canals, we will stop to view the iconic monument of José Estêvão Coelho de Magalhães. This boat trip is optional, giving you the choice to enjoy 45 minutes of free time in Aveiro instead, should you prefer.
Once the boat experience concludes, you will have 1.5 hours of free time to savor a meal and indulge in the delightful gastronomy of northern Portugal. Afterward, we will regroup to continue our journey toward Costa Nova, renowned for its striking beach lined with colorful striped houses along the bay.
Before returning to Porto, we will stop by the Capela do Senhor da Pedra, a church perched atop a rock by the Atlantic Ocean. Here, we will uncover the legends surrounding this quaint chapel while enjoying breathtaking views.
After a full day of exploration lasting around 8.5 hours, we will conclude the tour and bid farewell at our initial meeting point.
