Porto Tour: Lello Bookshop, Boat Trip + Gaia Cable Car

This guided walking tour in Porto features a scenic boat ride along the Douro River and includes access to the cable car in Gaia. You also have the option to explore the Lello Bookshop, should you wish. In addition, we will embark on a riverboat journey and ascend via the Vila Nova de Gaia cable car.

Tour Details

At the scheduled hour, we will gather in front of the Portuguese Centre of Photography to commence our walking tour through Porto's historic center. Are you ready to unveil the city's hidden gems along the Douro?

Initially, we will stroll to the Lello Bookshop and delve into the interior of this remarkable establishment. Could it be that this bookstore served as J.K. Rowling's muse for the Hogwarts library? After uncovering the connections between this shop and the Harry Potter series, we will proceed to appreciate the stunning tiles depicting scenes at São Bento station, which narrate important moments from Portugal's history.

Continuing our journey, we will make our way to the Ribeira district, where the magnificent Dom Luís I Bridge stands. We will cross the Douro River using the pedestrian pathway of this iconic bridge. On the opposite bank, we will find the charming town of Vila Nova de Gaia, where we will hop aboard the renowned cable car. Its cabins provide breathtaking panoramic views of Porto.

After a brief 5-minute ride on the Gaia cable car, we will head towards a local river dock for a boat excursion on the Douro River. During this experience, we will have the chance to admire the traditional wooden boats known as 'rabelos'.

As we cruise along the river, we will see the majestic Dom Luís I and Arrábida bridges, along with other distinctive footbridges that gracefully connect both sides of the Douro. The hour-long boat ride culminates at the quay positioned at number 4400, Avenida de Ramos Pinto.

This journey through Porto and its adjacent town concludes here, with the entire experience lasting approximately 4 hours.
