Description
Immerse yourself in a captivating landscape on a day excursion to the salt flats of Uyuni leaving from Potosí. Discover a truly one-of-a-kind experience that will leave you with unforgettable memories!
Day Trip Details
At the designated hour, we will depart from the previous bus terminal located on Avenida Universitaria to embark on this adventure to one of Bolivia's most renowned sites: the Salar de Uyuni salt flats.
Upon arrival at the Uyuni bus terminal, we will transition to our off-roading vehicle, which will take us to the spectacular Uyuni salt flats.
Our first visit will be to the well-known Uyuni train graveyard, where remnants of the initial railroads from the 19th century can be explored.
Next, we will make our way to Colchani, often referred to as the gateway to the Uyuni salt flats. Here, we will observe the intriguing salt eyes, which are small openings where boiling groundwater bursts forth due to geothermal heat.
We will then proceed to the Playa Blanca hotel. Did you know that this establishment is entirely constructed with salt blocks? We will have the opportunity to explore its distinctive facilities, which include a museum and restaurant.
At lunchtime, we will enjoy a delightful meal featuring local seasonal ingredients, perfect for recharging our energy. Following lunch, we'll journey to Plaza de las Banderas, famous for its flagpoles of varying heights displaying flags from around the globe. Remember to bring your own flag as a memento of your visit!
Our final destination will be Incahuasi Island, situated in the center of the salt flat. Here, we will encounter towering cacti, some reaching 6 meters (20 feet) tall, alongside stunning petrified coral formations. It’s an ideal spot to capture the final photos of this remarkable journey!
At the conclusion of our adventure, we will make our way back to the bus terminal in Uyuni and commence the return to Potosí, with arrival expected around midnight after a full day of 19.5 hours of exploration.
