Banana Farm Tour + Cooking Class

Embark on a journey to explore the banana plantations of Cape Verde, particularly at one of the most significant banana farms located on the island of Santiago. Additionally, you will get the chance to master the art of cooking couscous and fidjós.

Activity Overview

At the designated time, we will meet you at your accommodation in Praia to initiate our exploration of the agricultural heritage of Santiago. Let’s set off!

Our first stop will be the largest banana plantation in Cape Verde. Here, we will enjoy a guided tour across the farm, where you will gain insights into the fruits nurtured on the island and the detailed processes involved in their cultivation and harvesting.

Following this, we will proceed to the nearby town of Orgãos, where a local family will be ready to share their knowledge of one of the island's most cherished recipes, couscous. You will learn to prepare this beloved dish, crafted from corn flour. Moreover, we will don our aprons and discover how to make fidjós, a delightful treat made with banana and oatmeal.

To conclude this flavorful adventure, we will gather around the table to enjoy the dishes we’ve prepared, while engaging in storytelling and sharing experiences with the family from Orgãos.

Finally, we will return to your hotel in Praia, taking in the stunning landscapes along the way, concluding our journey approximately four hours later.
