Iryapú Nature Reserve Nighttime Hike
Description
Have you ever wondered about the habitat of the nocturnal creatures in Puerto Iguazú? Join us in our night hiking experience through the Iryapú Jungle Reserve, where nature unveils its secrets!
Description
We will convene at the prearranged spot at Jangadero, 136, from where we'll head towards the Iryapú Natural Reserve, nestled within the lush Paranaense rainforest.
Upon our arrival in this expansive sanctuary of 600 hectares (1,482 acres), we will embark on an unforgettable nocturnal hike. This journey will allow us to immerse ourselves in the heritage and cultural practices of the indigenous Mbya-Guaraní communities that have thrived in this region for generations.
This moderately easy hike spans 4 km (2.48 miles) and showcases magnificent flora, including towering rosewoods, guatambus, and cedars. In addition, we will encounter strangler fig trees along with an impressive array of palm species, ferns, orchids, and fruit trees.
Throughout our adventure, we may spot various animal species such as coatis, weasels, cai monkeys, southern tamanduas, short-tailed opossums, and snakes. With keen observation, we might also encounter frogs, spiders, and an assortment of insects. As custodians of nature, we will collect any litter we find during our journey using designated bags.
At the end of our hike, we will retrace our steps back to the starting location before returning to the meeting point in Puerto Iguazú, concluding our experience after approximately 2 hours together.
