Day Trip Overview

Your journey begins with a pickup at your accommodation in Puerto Madryn. Once all participants are gathered, we will embark on a picturesque drive lasting a little over two hours to the south.

Along National Route 3, our first stop will be in the town of Trelew, where we’ll visit a stunning life-size replica of the Patagotitan Mayorum, recognized as the largest dinosaur ever found. Standing alongside this massive creature, you'll truly appreciate the scale of such ancient life.

Next, we will move towards one of the highlights of the day, Punta Tombo. Our adventure begins at the interpretation center, providing essential insights into this extraordinary habitat. Subsequently, we’ll venture onto the wooden pathways, where numerous Magellanic penguins can be seen waddling, nesting, and engaging in their daily activities just nearby. If one lags behind the group, consider it a delightful surprise!

We will tread lightly and with respect, ensuring that the penguins’ habits are undisturbed. These fascinating birds make an incredible journey of hundreds of kilometers each year to return to their original nests, with many pairs remaining together through the seasons. The surroundings will be alive with activity: spirited disputes, awkward races, and tender reunions creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a vibrant nature documentary.

However, the penguins aren't the only inhabitants of this area. Look out for guanacos, maras, and choiques that may be wandering through the landscape. At lunchtime, you’ll enjoy 45 minutes of leisure to dine at a local eatery.

After approximately 2 hours spent at Punta Tombo, we'll return to Trelew to explore the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum. During our one-hour visit, we’ll navigate through exhibits that span millions of years, showcasing everything from microscopic organisms to colossal prehistoric beings. Fossils, skeletal remains, and interactive displays illuminate the history of this remarkable region.

In conclusion, we will make our way back to Puerto Madryn, dropping you off at your hotel after about 9 hours since the pickup.
