After collecting you from your accommodation in Puerto Madryn, we will travel straight to Punta Tombo, recognized as the premier destination for observing penguins across South America, where you’ll even have the chance to stroll amongst them! The visitor center offers insightful information about the Patagonian Penguins and the unique ecosystem that draws them back annually for reproduction.

In addition to the penguins, this region of Argentina boasts diverse local wildlife, such as guanacos (akin to llamas), the Patagonian mara, rheas, and foxes, providing an opportunity to learn how to identify these species. Following some free time for lunch, we will continue our journey north towards the northern coast of Isla Escondida, renowned for its population of elephant seals: the largest seals globally, with adults reaching up to 5 meters in length and weighing around 4 tonnes.

After a day spent marveling at the stunning biodiversity of this region, we will return to your hotel in Puerto Madryn.

Essential Information

The migration of penguins to Punta Tombo for mating and egg-laying occurs from September to February. However, animal behavior can be unpredictable, and sightings of the species are not assured at all times during the season.
