Valdes Peninsula Shore Day Trip for Cruise Passengers
Description
If you’re arriving at Puerto Madryn via cruise, prepare to uncover one of Argentina's remarkable natural wonders: the Valdes Peninsula. This remarkable reserve is home to distinct wildlife and a village recognized as a World Heritage Site.
Shore Excursion to Valdes Peninsula
Upon your docking in Puerto Madryn, we will greet you at the port before embarking on our journey to the Valdés Peninsula, an astonishing natural reserve located just beyond the city limits.
The route takes us through the Carlos Ameghino isthmus, which links the peninsula to the Chubut province on the mainland. This expansive wilderness stretches across 1,400 square miles and hosts a plethora of diverse animal species. Our first destination will be the Interpretation Center found at the reserve's entrance. Inside, guests can access an observation point that provides breathtaking views of the peninsula, both gulfs, and the nearby Isla de Los Pájaros (Bird Island), inhabited by gulls, herons, and even penguins.
Next, we’ll arrive at the bay of Caleta Valdés, where you'll have the opportunity to observe magnificent Elephant Seals and Sea Lions in their natural environment. For a more intimate view of these extraordinary animals, we will head towards Punta Cantor. A short break will follow to refresh with some food if desired (not included).
Reinvigorated, we’ll proceed with our exploration of the peninsula. With a stroke of luck, we may witness stunning orcas hunting together in groups.
The concluding stop of our tour will be the quaint settlement of Puerto Pirámides, the sole village within the peninsula. This charming area has been designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve due to its ecological richness. Amidst the azure waters and powdery white sands, you’ll find a vast colony of remarkable sea lions.
In the afternoon, we will make our way back to the port of Puerto Madryn, allowing you to rejoin your cruise ship.
