Completing the celebrated Ruta del Sol is a must for anyone visiting the southern region of Peru. Travelers who embark on this adventure often find themselves enchanted by the culture, scenery, and gastronomy of the Andes. To witness this firsthand, we will gather at the appointed time at Avenida Costanera, near Jr. Lampa. From there, our first stop will be the charming town of Pukara.

What insights can we gain from the ancient Andean civilization? Our exploration will commence at the Pukara interpretation center, home to the iconic Pukara bulls. These colorful clay sculptures symbolize protection, prosperity, and fertility across southern Peru.

Next, we will set off toward La Raya pass, where we will pause briefly to capture the stunning views from this mountain pass, perched over 4300 meters above sea level.

Having immortalized the vistas of La Raya, we will visit a local restaurant to enjoy a satisfying buffet lunch. After we’ve refueled, we will proceed to the renowned archaeological site of Raqchi. Here, we will admire the remnants of the ancient temple dedicated to the god Wiracocha, whose worship in pre-Hispanic times is steeped in myths and mysteries.

Following our guided exploration of the archaeological park of Raqchi, we will head to the village of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the stunning church of San Pedro Apóstol, often referred to as the "Sistine Chapel of America". You may find this claim hard to believe, but the interior of this grand temple is sure to leave you in awe!

We will conclude our Ruta del Sol in Cusco, arriving in this historic city by 5 pm and returning to our original meeting point.
