Punta Arenas Tour for Cruises
Description
This exploration of Punta Arenas offers an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, especially if your voyage through Chilean Patagonia brings you to the region’s capital.
Tour Overview
Are you set to uncover the charm of one of the most intriguing cities in Chilean Patagonia? Our journey through Punta Arenas starts at the cruise terminal, where we will meet you upon your ship's arrival.
After a brief introduction about the capital of Magallanes, Chile’s southernmost area, we'll proceed to the Plaza de Armas. Here, we'll appreciate the stunning Punta Arenas Cathedral along with the graceful architecture of the Municipality and Regional Government buildings.
Our next destination is the Braun Menéndez Museum, a building dating back to the white gold era, named for the economic surge generated by livestock and the importation of sheep from the Falkland Islands. During our visit, we will explore the historical background of the Magallanes region and view a fascinating collection of antiques and historic furnishings once owned by the family for whom the museum is named.
We will then make our way to the Cerro de la Cruz viewpoint, where picturesque panoramic views of Punta Arenas await us. On clear days, the Strait of Magellan may also be visible. After soaking in the breathtaking scenery, our tour will lead us to the Sara Braun Cemetery, renowned as one of the most beautiful cemeteries globally.
As we explore this extraordinary cemetery, we’ll uncover its unique features and then proceed to the Shepherd's Monument, which honors the shepherds from the white gold era. We will discuss the significance of this period in Chilean Patagonia's history and, after a captivating 3-hour tour, we will conclude our journey by returning to the Punta Arenas cruise terminal.
