Cotopaxi National Park Day Trip

Are you ready to explore one of the most iconic volcanoes in South America? This day tour from Quito will take you through the stunning Cotopaxi National Park, where you'll visit the Lagoon of Limpiopungo, engage with local communities, and immerse yourself in breathtaking volcanic scenery.

Day Trip Overview

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your accommodation in Quito and begin our journey to Cotopaxi National Park, located roughly 1.5 hours from the city.

En route, we will pause at a charming café situated at an elevation of 9,842 ft (3,000 m) above sea level. This stop allows you to acclimatize with a refreshing cup of coca tea while interacting with local villagers.

After this break, we will head toward the Caspi entrance, where a map will provide insight into the tour within the park. As we drive, enjoy panoramic views of the Andes, with chances to see deer, wild horses, and various native birds.

We will also make a brief visit to a craft and alpaca observation center, perched at 11,482 ft (3,500 m). Subsequently, we will approach the Cotopaxi volcano for photo opportunities showcasing the Limpiopungo Valley and two adjacent peaks: Rumiñahui and Sincholagua.

Our adventure continues as we reach the Laguna of Limpiopungo, situated at an altitude of 12,795 ft (3,900 m). Here, we will set off on a 30-minute to 1-hour hike through striking landscapes and local wildlife, with options for three different trails tailored to the group's preferences.

To conclude our trip, we will return towards Quito, making a stop in the town of Santa Rita where you can enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. After this delightful experience, we will drop you back at your hotel, with the entire trip lasting approximately 5 to 7 hours.
