Day Trip Details
At the scheduled pickup time, you will be collected in Quito and journey southward. Weather permitting, you will catch glimpses of the impressive silhouettes of Pasochoa, Corazón, and the Ilinizas, iconic peaks of the Ecuadorian Andes, during the drive.
Your first major stop will be Cotopaxi National Park, the second most visited attraction in Ecuador. Here, you will start your exploration at the Interpretation Center, where a guide will provide insights into the history and significance of the mighty Cotopaxi. Following this, you will visit Limpiopungo Lagoon for a walk, observing the unique birds and plants that thrive in the cold high-altitude environment.
The journey continues southwest through the Indigenous community of Tigua, renowned for its vibrant paintings and Andean handicrafts. Before reaching your final destination, you will stop at a viewpoint in the community of Zumbahua to admire the impressive scale of the Toachi River canyon.
Finally, you will arrive at Quilotoa Volcano. From the main viewpoint, you will be treated to a stunning panoramic view of its turquoise lagoon, celebrated for its breathtaking beauty due to its volcanic origin. If conditions allow, there will be the opportunity for a short walk to enhance your viewing experience of the crater.
After visiting Quilotoa, you will have free time for lunch on your own, offering a chance to taste the local cuisine before beginning your return journey to Quito.
The day trip will conclude with a return to the starting point approximately 12 hours after pickup.
