Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

Embark on a journey to explore three magnificent volcanic lakes nestled within an expansive moorland during our hike up Fuya Fuya Hill. This adventure begins in Quito and offers a day immersed in striking natural landscapes.

Fuya Fuya Hill Hike

Our day starts at 7:30 am when we gather in front of the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito. From there, we will travel towards the Mojanda Lagoons. Upon arrival, we will commence our hike toward the summit of Fuya Fuya Hill, with a delightful breakfast stop in Cayambe along the way.

This 3-hour trek will immerse us in stunning volcanic terrains, where the three stratovolcanic lakes—Karikucha, Yanakucha, and Warmikucha—await discovery. Keep your eyes peeled for friendly alpacas that may be grazing near the lakes!

As we traverse several moorlands adorned with meadows and mountain vegetation, we'll ascend to the impressive height of 13,779 feet (4,200 metres) at Fuya Fuya Hill. The summit offers an awe-inspiring panorama featuring the Imbabura, Cayambe, llinizas, Cotopaxi, and Cotacachi Volcanoes.

During this break to enjoy the spectacular views, a sandwich and refreshing drink will be provided to recharge our energy. Afterward, we will descent back to our transport and head to the poncho fair in Otavalo, where you'll find captivating arts and crafts.

Following our visit in Otavalo, we will make our way back to Quito, ensuring drop-off at our original meeting point by 5 pm.
