Fuya Fuya Hill Hike
Description
Embark on a journey to explore three stunning volcanic lakes nestled within expansive moorlands during our trek to Fuya Fuya Hill. We will depart from Quito to immerse ourselves in this captivating natural landscape.
Fuya Fuya Hill Hike
Our adventure begins at 7:30 am outside the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito, from where we will travel to the picturesque Mojanda Lagoons. Upon arrival, our hike towards the summit of Fuya Fuya Hill will commence, with a brief breakfast stop in Cayambe included.
This 3-hour trek navigates through a landscape adorned with volcanic beauty, revealing three stratovolcanic lakes: Karikucha, Yanakucha, and Warmikucha. Along the way, it's possible to encounter some gentle alpacas enjoying the lakeside scenery!
We will traverse various moorlands of lush meadows and rugged mountain vegetation leading us to the summit of Fuya Fuya Hill, standing tall at an altitude of 13,779 feet (4,200 meters). Once at the top, we will be rewarded with sweeping views of the Imbabura, Cayambe, llinizas, Cotopaxi, and Cotacachi Volcanoes.
While relishing the stunning vistas, we will enjoy a sandwich and drink to replenish our strength before we descend back to the vehicle, proceeding to the poncho fair in Otavalo, where the local arts and crafts will surely captivate you!
Following our visit to Otavalo, we will return to the original meeting site in Quito, concluding our day with a drop-off at around 5 pm.
