Olinda + Ricardo Brennard Institute Day Trip
Description
Join us for an insightful day trip to Olinda and the Ricardo Brennand Institute, where we will delve into the city's vibrant culture and rich history, renowned for its Carnival traditions.
Description
At the scheduled pickup time, we will meet you at your hotel in Recife to embark on this excursion to Olinda. Our adventure begins with a visit to one of the foremost museums in Latin America, the Ricardo Brennand Institute. Are you ready to explore?
Upon arrival in Olinda, established by the Portuguese in 1535, we'll first visit the Convent of São Francisco, a remarkable edifice that commenced construction in 1585. Interestingly, this site features the largest collection of Portuguese tiles found in the state.
Next, we will proceed to Alto da Sé, where stunning panoramic views of the city await us. Following this, a leisurely stroll will lead us to some of Olinda's key attractions. We will visit the Cathedral, Misericórdia Church and the Slope of Mercy, the São Bento Monastery, the Ribeira Market, the Casa de Artesanatos, and the beloved Bonecos de Olinda, famous Pernambuco carnival dolls.
Afterward, we will make our way to Carmo Church, recognized as the oldest temple of the Carmelite Order in Brazil. From there, we will head back to Alto da Sé, allowing you a moment to enjoy your lunch.
Post-lunch, our journey will take us to the Ricardo Brennand Institute, an extensive complex that features the São João Castle-Museum, an art gallery, an auditorium, a Sculpture Garden, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Graças, and a restaurant.
This remarkable museum is home to the largest global collection of works by the Dutch artist Frans Post and boasts an impressive array of bladed weaponry, with over 3,000 items. Among these, there are 27 fully intact medieval suits of armor, which are truly captivating!
After spending two hours exploring the institute, we'll make our way back to Recife, with an estimated return to your hotel approximately 7.5 hours after the initial pickup.
